WarMachine Shattered Grounds League

Shattered Grounds!

The new Shattered Grounds League, Nightfall, will start on Thursday, April 8th at All Fun & Games in Apex NC. In order for us to get an accurate count of the journals for the players, we need to know how many are playing, so please let us know if you are interested in participating in the league. This will be a global Warmachine and Hordes MK2 league. Come support your faction and fight for control of the Cryxian Isle of Garlghast!

-League Fees of $10 (Please make sure to pay your league fees when you play your first league game or before). This is a month long league. Each player will be issued a game journal where they will be able to keep track of the games they have played and the commendations they have earned. The journal will also keep track of any bonds that your warcasters/warlocks have earned with their jacks/beasts.  Please leave your journals with an employee when you have finished your games.

-Each commendation gives you a bonus rule that can be given to your army. These bonuses can be found on the Nightfall PDF.

-There will be no point limit, but commendations will be earned for playing larger games as per Privateer Press rules set.

-Thursday night will be the official league night, which guarantees the most room for Warmachine/Hordes players. If you plan to play a game on any day that is not a Thursday night, you can call and reserve a table, and we will try to make room for you.

-Be sure to bring in all items need to play (i.e. dice, tape measure, books, etc…).

-More information on the rules can be found attached to this email, and at the store. Any other questions, you can ask the League Organizer, Jacob Brickey.

D&D Player’s Handbook 3 Game Day

Saturday, March 20th, Wizards of the Coast is introducing its new big D&D Book, Player’s Handbook 3. Come in and celebrate the new source, with monks and psionics, and more playable races. The adventure will take between 3-4 hours to play, as you investigate the strange disturbance in “Beneath the Lonely Tower”. Wizards was kind enough to create characters for the players, and have tokens and maps for the adventure. Come in with your dice, and prepare for an afternoon of perils and dangers.

We are accepting sign-ups for players and looking for any volunteers to DM. We have 8 tables set aside for this event, four tables for the hours of 1PM-5PM, and four tables for the hours 5PM-10PM. We ask that the DM’s come in early to set up their space, and the players try to come in before the start time, so everyone can start as soon as possible.

D&D Encounters: Undermountain

March 17 – June 2
Every Wednesday, 6PM
Explore lost passages of the infamous Undermountain dungeon as you play through the mini-campaign Halaster’s Lost Apprentice! 1st-level characters are provided, or you may create a 1st-level character for play. If you choose to create your own character, use the standard method using any published Wizards of the Coast 4th Edition D&D books, with the following restrictions.
1. Races: You may only choose a race that has received a full write-up, such as presented in the Player’s Handbook series.
2. Other information: You cannot start play with magic items (consumables are Ok, if you can afford them).
You might also want to create a character that feels like it has a place in Forgotten Realms, to make it easy to draw your character into the adventure.

Renown Points
Many accomplishments will be awarded through treasure, and XP. Renown points are a new way to gain bonus items and skills/powers. Earn a certain amount, and gain some cool abilities.

We will have four tables set aside for those who want to participate, and are accepting any DM’s who would like to volunteer.

MTG March EDH League

The New MTG EDH League will start March 6th (Sign Up begins on the 6th)and end March 27th. The League Fee is $1, and will go towards prizes. Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays starting at 4PM, are the official MTG League Nights and if you want to play on any other day, please call ahead to reserve table space. Just call up the store at 919-468-6322 and we’ll make room for you and your opponent. We will have a list posted after the first Saturday of all those signed up in the league with what they are using as their generals and contact information to reach the players and find time to play.

You can play as many games as you would like, and you only have to play one match per opponent, not best out of three. You can play these games as either 1 on 1, or against 2 opponents. There is no limit to the games you can play in a week or per opponent, but only the first 24 games will count. League Results slips will be filled with all players’ names and signatures, time and date played. League slips that are not filled out completely will not count towards your results. When a player is eliminated, he/she gets credit for 1 loss + 1 win for each player already eliminated. For example, the first player to be eliminated gets credit for a loss in 1 game. The next gets credit for 2 games (1 loss, 1 win), the third gets credit for 3 games (1 loss, 2 wins), etc. If 2 or more players are eliminated at the same time, it is handled in the same way. For example, the first player to be eliminated gets credit for a loss in 1 game. If the next 2 players are eliminated simultaneously, they both get credit for 2 games (1 loss, 1 win). The next player to be eliminated would get credit for 4 games (1 loss, 3 wins). The last player still in the game gets credit for 1 win for each player eliminated. For example, in a 5-player game, the last player would get 4 wins.

Deck Construction Rules:
Players must choose a legendary creature as the "General" for their deck. Players may choose any legendary creature as their general, although some choices may be met with disapproval by other players. Two players in the same game may choose the same General, and other players may include that card in their Deck even if it's not their General. Generals are subject to the Legend rule just like any other legendary creature; multiple copies of the same creature (whether General and non-General) will all be put into the graveyard (or command zone) as a state based effect.

The following cards may not be used as a General: Rofellos

League Rule: An EDH "League" consists of a regular group of players who frequently play together using the same decks. No two players in a league game may have the same General. Within a given league, Generals are allocated first-come, first-serve and are preserved between meetings/games. No player may have, in his or her deck, the General of any other player in the game; it should be replaced with some other card before the game begins.

The General's mana cost limits what coloured mana symbols may appear on cards in the deck: if a coloured mana symbol is not present in the General's mana cost, the deck may not contain any cards using that mana symbol. Lands with a basic land type (basic lands, Shock lands, Dual lands, Shadowmoor CIPT-basics, etc) contain the corresponding mana symbol(s) as per CR 212.6g.

Example: If you were play Phelddagrif (Casting cost 1UWG) as your General, your deck may not contain any red or black cards; no card in such a deck may contain red or black mana symbols or hybrid mana symbols ( Talisman of Dominance, Life//Death and Boros Guildmage are not allowed. Degavolver is doubly bad).

A deck may not generate mana outside it's colours; anything which would generate mana of an illegal colour generates colourless mana instead.

An EDH deck must contain exactly 100 cards, including the General.

With the exception of basic lands, no two cards in the deck may have the same english name.

EDH is played with vintage legal cards, with the exception that cards are legal as of their set's prerelease.

Additionally, the following are banned:
• Ancestral Recall
• Balance
• Biorhythm
• Black Lotus
• Coalition Victory
• Fastbond
• Gifts Ungiven
• Grindstone
• Kokusho, the Evening Star
• Karakas
• Library of Alexandria
• Limited Resources
• Lion's Eye Diamond • Metalworker
• Mox Sapphire, Ruby, Pearl, Emerald and Jet
• Panoptic Mirror
• Protean Hulk
• Recurring Nightmare
• Sway of the Stars
• Time Vault
• Time Walk
• Tinker
• Upheaval
• Worldgorger Dragon
• Yawgmoth's Bargain

Store Banned cards:
• Sol Ring (suggested that it be allowed if all players in game agree to it)
• Life from the Loam
• Sensei’s Divining Top (suggested that it be allowed if all players in game agree to alternate use idea): Players with Top in play must activate its ability and rearrange the top 3 cards as early as they are able to, if they intend to do so. If the board changes or their deck becomes shuffled, they may rearrange the cards again for free.

Play rules:
Players begin the game with 40 life.

Generals are announced and removed from the game before shuffling at the start of the game.

Being a General is not a characteristic it is a property of the card. As such, "Generalness" cannot be copied or overwritten by continuous effects, and does not change with control of the card.

Examples: A Body Double copying a General in a graveyard is not a General. A General which is affected by Cytoshape, or is face down, is still a General.

The first time a player takes a mulligan, they draw 7 cards (instead of 6). The second mulligan is to 6, and so forth.
If a player suffers 21 points of combat damage from a single General, they lose. This is an additional state based effect, similar to poison counters, but separate and specific to each General. This damage cannot be healed or undone, even if the creature is removed from play temporarily. Damage done by a creature under someone else's control is still counted towards the 21 point limit for that creature and defender.

While a General is removed from the game, it may be played. As an additional cost to play your General this way, you must pay {2} for each previous time you have played it this way.
If a General would be put into a graveyard or exile from anywhere, its owner may choose to move it to the command zone instead.
• This is a replacement effect; the creature never goes to the graveyard and will not trigger such abilities.
• Generals will move to the library or hand as normal; only transitions to Exile or the Graveyard may be replaced.
